Half of my questions have been closed, and my frustration trying to address this in my previous post on Meta just ended up with an argument with Cody Gray (sorry about that) and that question being closed. My proposal: Stop closing "duplicate" questions. This leads to a negative site with low rep users (like me) getting all of their questions closed. The reasons for this are:
- Most of the "duplicate" questions are more broad and general than the question being asked.
- Sometimes the question with a similar error (like in my post) is using a different module that is built on top of another one.
- Sometimes searching for duplicates is annoying because the titles are very complicated and hard to find.
- It annoys the users, which in turn complain and annoy the moderators, who close more of their questions.
This leads to a cycle of negativeness and I would like to stop it. What do you guys think? I just want the best for this community and want to hear what people think about this.
